Learn at Your Library: Solar Eclipse  

Wednesday, March 20 th at 5 PM • Family 

Presented by Gene Zajac, NASA Solar System Ambassador. This event is an educational program geared towards children. Andover, Ohio is directly in the path of the Solar Eclipse on April 8th.  Join us as we get ready for this exciting event and learn why the eclipse is occurring and what to expect from a Total Solar Eclipse. 

DIY Solar Telescope 

Tuesday, March 26th at 3 PM • Family (Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult) 

Get ready for the Solar Eclipse! Make your own Solar Telescope using a variety of recycled materials. Bring your own 7” or larger cardboard box (cereal boxes are perfect). We’ll provide the instructions. 

Become a Solar Eclipse Soundscape Observer 

Tuesday, March 26th at  6 PM • All ages (under 12 must be accompanied by an adult) 

As Eclipse Soundscapes (ES) Observers, you will go outside on eclipse day to record information about your location and what you hear, see, or feel during the 2024 total solar eclipse. Observations are needed from on, near, and off the eclipse path. You will earn an ES Observer certificate for submitting your observations! Join us to complete the training and receive instruction on participating as an ES Observer. 

 

 

Understanding the Solar Eclipse 

Wednesday, March 27th at 5 PM • Adults & Teens 

Presented by Gavin T. Custer, NASA Education Program Specialist. Gavin will be presenting virtually to our in-house audience about the upcoming total solar eclipse. Join us as we learn about the eclipse and the resources NASA has to offer. 

Solar Eclipse DIY T-Shirt 

Thursday, March 28th at 4 – 6 PM• All Ages (Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult) 

Get ready for the Solar Eclipse on April 8th by creating your own Solar Eclipse T-shirt. We will have a limited supply of T-shirts in a variety of sizes. To ensure you have a shirt available in your size community members are encouraged to bring their own clean black T-shirt; the library will provide all the other materials.  No registration is necessary. T-shirts are available while supplies last.
