Close My Eyes by Sophie McKenzie of London

By Dawn Bechtel, Andover Ohio Avid Reader (listener)   3/2021

Author of this book, Sophie McKenzie writes mostly thrillers although she has also done some teen romance stories.  “Close My Eyes” is her first psychological thriller for adult readers (pub May 2013, UK, July 2013, US)

I listened to this in audiobook format and must admit that the performer was not my favorite.  So the book/e-book format might be better enjoyed.

Geniver Loxley has never recovered from the stillborn birth of her daughter eight years ago.

Her husband, Art, anxiously pushes to have another child and to move on with their lives, but Geniver is still grieving.  A female stranger shows up telling Gen that her baby had been born alive and was taken away by the doctor and that her husband helped.  The shocking news makes Gen suspicious and unsure of whether she can trust her husband, she turns to an old colleague of Art’s, Lorcan, who is now a successful actor and is extremely empathetic. As the two investigate, they discover some shocking secrets that put their lives in jeopardy.

“Close My Eyes” is a thriller with many twists and quite a surprise at the end.
