About the Author:<\/strong>\u00a0 Taylor Jenkins Reid began her career in film production. She worked as a casting assistant for three years after she graduated from college before trying other jobs. Reid started writing part-time while working at a high school until she got a book deal.<\/p>\n

Her first novel,\u00a0Forever, Interrupted\u00a0was published in 2013. Her 2019 novel,\u00a0Daisy Jones & The Six\u00a0is being developed into a web-based miniseries produced by\u00a0Reese Witherspoon<\/a>, also called\u00a0Daisy Jones & The Six<\/a>.\u00a0 She co-wrote the Hulu television show,\u00a0Resident Advisors<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Reid grew up in\u00a0Acton, Massachusetts<\/a>. \u00a0She is married to Alex Jenkins Reid, and they live in\u00a0Los Angeles<\/a>\u00a0with their daughter.<\/p>\n

\"\"\u00a0<\/em>The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0is a\u00a0historical fiction<\/a>\u00a0novel.\u00a0 According to the author, Evelyn Hugo was loosely based on actresses\u00a0Elizabeth Taylor<\/a>, who was married eight times to seven different men, and\u00a0Ava Gardner<\/a>, who revealed the secrets of her life to a journalist which was eventually published as\u00a0Ava Gardner: The Secret Conversations<\/em><\/a>. Reid also discusses how\u00a0Rita Hayworth<\/a> was a big influence on the character Evelyn Hugo. Hayworth, a Spanish woman, had a very similar start to Hugo which can be seen at the beginning of the novel.<\/p>\n

The story:\u00a0 <\/strong>Monique Grant is a 35-year-old struggling writer living in New York City. Dealing with her dead-end professional career and her impending divorce, Monique is at an all-time low. She has been working for the prestigious Vivant <\/em>magazine for less than a year and has not yet been given many opportunities.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Aging and reclusive Hollywood movie icon Evelyn Hugo is finally ready to tell the truth about her glamorous and scandalous life.\u00a0 Now at age 79, the famous actress of the \u201960s will give a final interview only<\/u> to an unknown journalist, Monique Grant.<\/p>\n

Though she is stunned by the request, Monique realizes the opportunity could make her career.\u00a0 But why her?\u00a0 Why now?\u00a0 Evelyn Hugo tells Monique the truth of her glamorous life and career. As Evelyn\u2019s life unfolds\u2014revealing a ruthless ambition, an unexpected friendship, and a great forbidden love\u2014Monique begins to feel a very real connection to the actress.<\/p>\n

But as Evelyn\u2019s story catches up with the present, it becomes clear that her life intersects with Monique\u2019s own in tragic and irreversible ways.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong>My review:<\/strong>\u00a0 This book is so much more than a chronicle of husbands.\u00a0 It gives insights to the rise of stardom and what some people will do to get what they want in life.\u00a0 The story also gives a look into different kinds of marriages and the reasons people may get married.\u00a0 The book is also about intimacy and true love.\u00a0\u00a0 What you might do to protect the ones you love.\u00a0 The author weaves so much emotion in her storytelling, it has many layers that draw you in.\u00a0 I really liked this author, this book, one of the best I have read.<\/p>\n
