{"id":5987,"date":"2021-03-16T12:35:42","date_gmt":"2021-03-16T16:35:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.andover.lib.oh.us\/live\/?p=5987"},"modified":"2021-03-31T08:03:05","modified_gmt":"2021-03-31T12:03:05","slug":"avid-andover-reader-book-review-the-measure-of-a-lady","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.andover.lib.oh.us\/live\/2021\/03\/16\/avid-andover-reader-book-review-the-measure-of-a-lady\/","title":{"rendered":"Avid Andover Reader Book Review &#8211; &#8220;The Measure of a Lady&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">March 16, 2021<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/search.clevnet.org\/client\/en_US\/andv-main\/search\/results?qu=the+measure+of+a+lady&amp;te=\">\u201cThe Measure of a Lady\u201d by Deeanne Gist<\/a>\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/strong>Audio Book format on ClevNet-Hoopla<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reviewed by:\u00a0 Dawn Bechtel, avid Andover reader (listener) <\/strong>3\/2021<\/p>\n<p><em>The Measure of a Lady<\/em>, by Deeanne Gist (2006) is set in the mid-1800s in the emerging bustling Gold Rush town of San Francisco filled with men and ladies of questionable character.\u00a0 On the heels of tragedy Rachel van Buren arrives with her siblings.\u00a0 Her hope is to protect them and return east quickly.\u00a0 This becomes a daunting task as the younger sister and brother are lured into the dangerous gambling and untoward ways of life there.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Miss van Buren won\u2019t give up the fight to remain within the virtues that make for a true lady.\u00a0 She becomes a reciprocated love interest with a handsome charming saloon owner.
